BRAZILIAN ORNITHOLOGICAL RECORDS COMMITTEE - CBRO

The Brazilian Ornithological Records Committee (CBRO) was created as a forum to discuss and publish data related to the distribution of birds in Brazil .

The CBRO reviews and updates the information available about avian distribution in Brazil , and consolidates and publishes its conclusions on the Internet in the form of a checklist.

Priorities

CBRO's priorities at the national level are toMaintain an up-to-date list of the species of birds that occur in Brazil , classified as resident species, regular visitors, accidental, etc.

Create lists of birds that probably or possibly occur in Brazil but where no documented record exists.

Make recommendations as to taxonomic and nomenclatural treatment and maintain records of changes.

CBRO's priorities at the state level are to:Verify the state records for each species.

Create lists for each state of species with undocumented or questionable records.

Identify, where possible, the species that have probably disappeared from each state or region .
