Resolução No 121Ratificar Rupornis Kaup, 1844, em Rupornis magnirostris (Gmelin, 1789), na lista principal de aves brasileiras.

Uma recente análise filogenética baseada em dados moleculares (Riesing et al. 2003) suporta a manutenção da combinação Rupornis magnirostris (Gmelin, 1789), indicada por Sick (1993:174, 1997:251), em contraposição à combinação Buteo magnirostris (Gmelin, 1789), preponderante nas fontes referenciais recentes (Sibley & Monroe 1990, Bierregaard 1994, Parker et. al. 1996, A.O.U. 1998, Clements 2000, Ferguson-Lees & Christie 2001, SACC 2003).
