Resolução N^o 124 – Manter Laterallus G. R. Gray, 1855, em Laterallus fasciatus e L. viridis, na lista principal das aves brasileiras.

A inclusão de Laterallus fasciatus (Sclater & Salvin, 1867) e L. viridis (Statius Muller, 1776) no gênero Anurolimnas Sharpe, 1893, defendida por Olson (1973) e Storer (1981), não pode ser ratificada, a despeito de sua preponderância entre as fontes referenciais recentes (Sibley & Monroe 1990, Taylor 1996, Taylor & van Perlo 1998, Clements 2000, SACC 2003). O nome genérico aplicável para este arranjo, por questão de prioridade cronológica, é Rufirallus Bonaparte, 1856 (tipo: Rallus cayanensis “L.” = L. viridis) (Penhallurick 2003). [Em adição, novos estudos taxonômicos são necessários. O repertório vocal de L. fasciatus e L. viridis diverge daquele de A. castaneiceps (Sclater & Salvin, 1868) e claramente aproxima-se daquele dos membros de Laterallus (Ridgely & Greenfield 2001:200), incluindo L. melanophaius (Vieillot, 1819), espécie-tipo do gênero.]
